I do it too.  In fact if someone else had submitted
this task I might well be questioning it too.  :)

Again, the concrete use-case here is getting finer
grain out of a fileset over whose creation the user
had no control.  Nested filesets would probably solve
the immediate need.  The justification for the clone
task was/is "genericness = we don't have to do this n
more times."
