patch.xml is in the root directory of an ant source
distribution, alongside build.xml . However, in this
case, I went ahead and applied your patch to my
working directory and am in the process of putting
everything together for a commit. I had said I was
working on some other stuff that I wanted to finish,
but I suppose that technically I have verified your
patch (though I took the liberty of moving some stuff
around just because I'm a busybody that way). I will
go ahead and commit the pattern attribute on
DateSelector today.

I would say yes, unless you can get another project
like ant-contrib to include your task with their
stuff.
