I have received this email, and I can confirm that the md5sum files are missing for the *.tar.bz2, *.zip and *.tar.gz in the source directory.
I do not understand why, I simply used the build.xml of ant and ran the distribution target, but the md5 sum files apparently did not get generated.

dist/ant/ant-current-src.zip.md5
is a dead symlink.
