Hoever, when I add my new .java files under a new directory the "ant -f patch.xml" doesn't pick up the new directory and put it's contents into the patch tar file. If I add them to an existing directory, then they get picked up fine. Am I missing something, or do I have to add these new files manually to the patch tar file?

Hi,
you should make a tar file with your new tasks and attach it to a bug report in BugZilla.
But maybe before you do this, can you discuss on the list what these tasks are about ?
