No long winded plan as this one should be rather trivial IMHO.

The plan:

* We don't commit anything to the 1.5 branch anymore (we don't so so
  anyway).

* On Monday August 11th during the morning (GMT) the release manager
syncs the website changes from the HEAD branch to the 1.5 branch and
creates a 1.5.4 release from it. Following the Release guidelines in
  our CVS module.

* The release will be put into our distribution directory and the
release manager will call for a PMC vote on it.

* If the vote passes, the release will be announced to the public,
otherwise the files will be removed from the distribution area
  again.

Release Manager:

I volunteer to take the role of the release manager, although I'll
probably need some help to get all optional dependencies together.

Some notes:

The only changes over 1.5.3 will be the changes to <javah> and the VAJ
tasks. Therefore I plan to explicitly state in the release notes as
well as the announcements that there is no reason to upgrade from
1.5.3 unless you use <javah> on JDK 1.4.2 or VAJ.

The announcement will also once again state that this is the last
(planned) Ant release that will run on a 1.1 Java VM.

All changes are based on patches from people who had problems with the
two areas originally - and have been verified to work by multiple
people. Therefore I don't think we'll need a release candidate or
even beta build.
