You might want to try to compile this class : org.apache.tools.ant.tasksdefs.optional.depend.constantpool.ClassCPInfo then try again to compile org.apache.tools.ant.tasksdefs.optional.depend.ClassFile and see whether the problem persists. You can also try to change your copy of ant's build.xml file and do <javac verbose="true" ... so that you get more error output.
