http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=19876 tar task does not preserve permissions Summary: tar task does not preserve permissions Product: Ant Version: 1.5.2 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: Other Component: Documentation AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] The tar task does not preserve file permissions. If you set a file to be executable, then tar it up, and extract the tar, the extracted file will not have the execute permission. This is contrary to the way the tar command-line utility works. The tar task allows you to explicitly set permissions, but I don't find that very useful. I would rather set the file permissions on my storage device and let the tar task pick it up from there.
