As a committer on the commons-net project, I want to take a look at what might be able to be done to solve this problem. It will involve refactoring the code on which the <ftp> task depends in commons-net (formerly NetComponents) as well as eventually recoding the <ftp> task itself.
In particular what I need now from the community are real-world instances of ftp servers which offer anonymous login access in which the directory listings are not offered with English date formats. I would like to look at FTP directory listings in as many languages as I can. Also, in as many OS formats as I can. Not all ftp servers use the unix format.
