Absolutely - SO is great to use it for troubleshooting etc. And I have even seen projects redirecting all "users" questions/problems immediately to SO with dedicated #airflow (?) tag.
I think this discussion (again trying to put it back to the original topic) is more about enabling "devlist" discussions for people who are now inttimidated by the mailing list interface. It's NOT about archiving. It's all about how to make our official channels more accessible to people who seem to be unhappy witjh using mailing lists. Surely we can turn our blind eye on people who are not familiar/friendly with mailing lists. But I think we are losing a lot of valuable comments and inside if we limit ourselves to only that interface - especially if we can fairly easily (and with low risk) try to enable other ways of participating in the devlist discussions - while still being fully compliant with Apache's transparency and devlist rules. I honestly think we should try to enable bi-directional sync slack channels <> devlist (and not create a separate list for that) with some social engineering to make it easy and "official" at the same time. If we find it too overwhelming, we can always disable it. It's really not only about indexing, it's also about participation. I think indexing is secondary (though mandatory as well) - but if we open up to more people participating in the discussion, we will simply be a better community. J.
