Hello,

As was announced last year, mainline support for Windows 7-8.1 and macOS
10.12-10.14 was declared end-of-life and users on those platforms were
migrated to the ESR 115 branch in order to continue receiving important
security and quality fixes for at least another year.

At the time that decision was made, a commitment was also made to review
the current usage numbers for those migrated platforms closer to the
planned end-of-life of the ESR 115 branch in order to assess whether any
changes in plan were necessary.

After reviewing that usage data, it was decided that we will continue to
support the ESR 115 branch *only for those previously-mentioned platforms*
for another 6 months. Users on newer platforms will still be migrated to
the ESR 128 branch next month as originally planned. In early 2025, we will
review the current usage data again and decide at that time whether further
extension is warranted or not. We have updated whattrainisitnow.com
<https://whattrainisitnow.com/release/?version=esr> to reflect this
extension.

We recognize that ESR 115 is an increasingly difficult target for patch
backports and as such will be limiting the scope of approvals to only
critical security and quality fixes.

Thank you,
Ryan VanderMeulen
