Hi all, The FastBlock feature is turned on by default in Nightly now (enabled by bug 1480443 <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1480443> since 2018-09-01).
We will conduct a FastBlock Shield Study <https://github.com/mozilla/FastBlockShield> [1] in Firefox Beta 63 to test the feature and help us figure out the best approach to deploy it. In the meantime, we enabled FastBlock by default in Nightly to collect early feedback. *What is FastBlock?* It is a new and experimental feature aimed at improving page load performance by restricting the loading of slow trackers. It was announced in the recent Mozilla blog “Changing Our Approach to Anti-tracking <https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2018/08/30/changing-our-approach-to-anti-tracking/> [2]." *How Can You Help Us?* Report issues and breakage bugs if you suspect they are caused by FastBlock. Please set the bugs as blocking the FastBlock meta bug 1472540 <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1472540> so we’ll notice them. You can also report issues to the #anti-tracking or #privacy channel on Slack. *Turning If Off* You can toggle FastBlock by using the preferences UI (Slow-Loading Trackers). You can also disable FastBlock by directly setting the pref “browser.fastblock.enabled” as false.
