I'm chuffed to announce that Web Replay has finally made its way into nightly. It brings tardis like functionality (or perhaps rr like) to Firefox Devtools, enabling recording and replaying of tab behavior, and best of all, stepping backwards and running backwards. This could be transformative for Web Developers using Firefox. For more detail you can watch Jason Laster's talk at JS conf[1], or see bug 1422587[2].
The project has been a roller coaster of excitement, architectural concern and finally relief. We've now got something to try out, for SpiderMonkey devs to work around and for everyone to think about its impact. As with any work-in-progress, it has some caveats: * It is only supported on Mac * It is pref'ed off * It doesn't support certain web features, such as video playback For now it is considered tier-3 until we've got more information about how it fits into Firefox. Try to avoid regressing its functionality, but if you need to do so (to get your work done) then file a bug in the Web Replay component. It is still in as-is-where-is condition but you're welcome to try it out[3]. Please let me know your thoughts if you do.
