Unfortunately, XULRunner hasn't been under active development since
mid-2015, and was never officially supported.
I suggest downloading and reinstalling the most recent version of
Thunderbird, available here:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/
This may resolve your issue. You can email me directly if it doesn't,
and I'll see if I can direct you to the right people in the Thunderbird
community.
