This is interesting information! Do you have other "folk knowledge" from
teams using Bugzilla? It may be useful to interview a number of
engineers and managers about their teams' current Bugzilla workflows.
And perhaps an etherpad for a big brain dump and bikeshedding. :)
If we can "pave some cowpaths" by standardizing proven patterns using
our existing tools, there may be less resistance or bikeshedding to new
proposals.
For example, here are some existing fields that different teams use
(inconsistently) to prioritize future work:
- Priority
- Severity
- Rank (1–60)
- Votes
- Target Milestone
- Iteration
- custom tracking flags like tracking-e10s, firefox‑backlog, blocking-fx
- custom 'project flags' for B2G
- custom whiteboard tags
- various 'wanted' and priority keywords
- meta bugs
