I'm not an owner or peer of the module, so formally I don't have the
authority to reject, but I'd encourage the module owners to reject
such a patch, yes.

If the module owners are OK with it, my proposal to rewrite the
converters in Rust is also relevant to other suggestions to tweak m-c

It seems to me that doing things the old way (when mailnews wasn't
compiled into libxul in e.g. Icedove) was a bigger problem. What
problem is solved by having a custom comm-central libxul but not
building all the comm-cental-specific stuff into it?
