I'll give this thread another day for feedback for people who may have been away for the holidays, then I'll file the bug. Ideally we should get this done before next Monday's uplift so we don't jerk people around with dropping MSVC compiler support in two consecutive Gecko releases.

Also, IIUC, this also means we can drop support for any Windows SDK <8.1. So that's nice too.
