In the past year, we have landed a number of changes to shutdown (e.g. profile-before-change2, AsyncShutdown for JS, AsyncShutdown for XPCOM, the Shutdown Terminator), and we have further plans (e.g. migrating existing stuff to AsyncShutdown, exit(0)).
