It should be do-able, I'll look into it. I think having a way to set arbitrary filter values in the configuration could help us in other scenarios as well.
One thing to note though is that there wouldn't be a way to keep it in-sync with m-c. So if the name of the variable changes, or gets removed or something, we'd have to update the test-informant configuration manually.
