The marvelous French team (Alexis, Mathieu, Rémy) is building in 2015 some APIs to store data in the cloud under your FxA account. 2 projects so far are gradually moving under this "Cloud Storage" umbrella project: Loop and Reading List - and we're lurking at more projects around Mozilla. Our 2015 goal is to provide a useful set of HTTP APIs along with a JS client so people can store data (whether it's records or files) for their client without having to worry about the FxA plumbing and sync basics, and picking a storage API or service. The Cloud Storage project is use-case driven: so far we've designed a specific service for each project needs and use our generic HTTP API underneath. We try to make the custom project-specific layer as thin as possible and we're dreaming that one day someone with a new project will tell us: "Marcel, your cloud storage API is perfect - we're using it as-is.
