I'm not completely sure how I messed up the NFS tests, but it seems I was not testing the right code. The good news is that I've redone my testing NFS setup correctly this time and actually was able to reproduce the problems you and David reported with original series of changes (except your 'yppasswd' scenario, as I have not set up NIS). And I confirm that they are gone with the amending commits with a number of different configuration variations (I've just committed the last one, whose functional changes are identical to the one I had posted and you tested; it just has slightly amended commit message and comments). Hopefully, this is the end of it, but I'll watch in case of reports saying otherwise. Sorry again for the breakages and disturbance. -- Olivier Certner
