I don't think Geeksphone is at fault here ; I do reproduce this when producing MAR update packages for my Nexus S since friday evening. When I trash Gaia's profile/ (make -C gaia clean) and then reinstall Gaia with make -C gaia PRODUCTION=1 [...] install-gaia, it works again.
