We have done it using Unagi hardware and using FirefoxOS commercial software (1.0 and 1.1) and Android ICS.
Main conclusion is that FirefoxOS is better than Android with respect to battery consumption. How much depends a lot of the target scenario. Which scenarios are you interested in?
