I just tried:
in build/custom-prefs.js, I set (normally I have it set to true):
user_pref("marionette.defaultPrefs.enabled", false);
delete the profile directory, then do make GAIA_OPTIMIZE=1 reset-gaia.
After those changes I still see the slowness. Maybe I need to do a
fresh b2g build that does not specify VARIANT=eng?
