Another possibility is to use a command-line handler in the addon to add
a flag to Firefox that pushes an app to the Simulator. It would work
similarly to Firefox's "-new-tab URL" flag, which opens the specified
URL in a running instance of Firefox.
But while -new-tab works fine on Windows and Linux, I couldn't get it
working on Mac, which always complains that "A copy of Firefox is
already open." Perhaps bug 393645
