I've just landed bug 860462 into Gaia master, enabling keyboard auto correction.

Because we need feedback on this urgently, I've enabled it by default. Unless you do a make reset-gaia to get a new settings database, however, you may have to enable it manually with Settings->Keyboard->Auto correction.

Auto correction works even if you don't have word suggestions turned on, but works best if you do, because a suggested word turns blue if it is going to be used as an auto-correction. You can use backspace to undo an auto-correction and if you do, the word will not be corrected again.

We (Christoph, Gregor and I) are working actively to improve the quality of the suggestions and corrections. We know there are serious problems with them now, but we're turning this feature on because we need help to get it tested if we're going to be able to uplift it and ship it.

If you find incorrect (or sub-optimal) corrections or suggestions, please file them in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=860550 Just add a comment saying what you typed and what the keyboard did. If it is not obvious, also add what you would have liked the keyboard to do instead. This kind of feedback is especially desired for languages other than English!

I'm cross-posting this to dev-gaia and dev-b2g to get the wide distribution. Please followup on dev-gaia.
