Hi everyone, welcome to another installment of B2G feedback.

This installment of feedback only includes information from people who are
using the latest stable build: 11/26. If you're not on the latest and want to
be, come see me (in MV), Lukas (in SF) or anyone on Desktop IT (everywhere!)
and we can get you updated posthaste.

For starters, thanks for coming by to get your phones updated and flashed last
week. And especially for chatting about the new first-run experience and your
other thoughts on the OS. It's really cool to hear your thoughts first-hand.
Please, do come by my desk whenever you're around and we can grab a cup of tea
and chat B2G testing.

First run experience feedback:

I watched at least a dozen testers go through this new experience and here are
the highlights:

Pluses:
Really nice to have something friendly like this, especially a tutorial, right
off the bat. The whole experience looked good. It even handled getting a phone
call in the middle of setup without that much hassle.

Bugs:
* You can only pick English (I think this is by design)
* You can't turn the screen off in the middle of the process. If you need to go
look up a Facebook password or are just interrupted, you're stuck. (I couldn't
hand people a freshly flashed phone and have the tester try out the FRE when
they had time. They had to turn off the phone or go through the setup process.
* Date/timezone picker needs to have timezones in a human-readable (cities)
format. (bug 814094)
* Date/timezone picker doesn't update the main screen after selecting something
from the selector, even if the selector selects.
* We should get date/time/timezone from the SIM card instead of asking for it.
* Getting a call when in the FRE resulted in a whitescreen, and was a little
laggy but got the user back to the setup screen after the call. (This effect
happens whenever you receive a call in any app, see below)
* No lock icons in wifi settings in FRE
* Keyboard really laggy when typing passwords and usernames (perhaps always the
case)
* When setting up a wifi network (like Mozilla Guest) it briefly says
"disconnected" before connecting. Also, there's no immediate response to tell
you that it's actually trying to connect to a network.
* Privacy policy isn't linked (can't learn/read more)
* The title of the screen is "Firefox privacy choices" but we're actually
asking you to sign up for a newsletter

There were also some little things confusing about the tutorial:

* The swipe direction for seeing more apps actually gives you everything.me
* It seems to imply that you can rearrange anything, including everything.me
icons (not true)
* The page marker shown the the graphic of swiping indicates the home screen
but it has icons on it.
* No back button on the last page of the tutorial
* Can't get back to tutorial if you close it

Other comments, issues: (A lot of these have bugs, thanks Naoki!)

* [Apps] Marketplace Twitter app camera button doesn't work (bug 816757)
* [Apps] Twitter app lags badly when loading tweets
* [Dialer] Outgoing call doesn't always show up in call log (bug 815063)
* [Email] Can't delete multiple email messages (may be offline only) (possibly
bug 798724)
* [Gallery] Gallery can hang when too many photos
* [Gallery] Gallery open images in a random order when starting so you can't
really act on it while it's loading
* [Home Screen] Downloaded apps lose their homescreen icons (intermittent) --
may be related to the update above.
* [Home Screen] Non-built-in apps (and possibly shortcuts) were lost after
update (bug 812248)
* [Keyboard] No autocorrect on keyboard (probably just a feature request)
* [Lock Screen] New unlock action is hard to use (targets are too small) (bug
816738)
* [Lock Screen] New unlock action turns a smile into a frowny face (this was
actually commented on more than once!)
* [Maps] Maps requires authentication to test (bug 816286)
* [Notification bar] Have to be too precise when swiping the notification bar
down (can't swipe from off screen)
* [Notification bar] Missed call notification is not actionable (selecting it
doesn't take you to dialer)
* [Notification bar] No indicator of current charge level while charging (so
you can't tell how low you are or how close you are to done)
* [Notification bar] Too many notifications can jam up the notification bar
(notifications from the same app don't stack)
* [Notification bar] When swiping notifications up, sometimes it selects the
item instead (it can't seem to distinguish between a swipe and a press)
* [Performance] Can get into a state where everything.me doesn't load (may need
to kill a broken e.me app) (bug 815377)
* [Performance] Takes too long to start phone from powered off.
* [Receiving calls] After answering a call while in another app, you can get
into a state with a visual glitch along the bottom.
* [Receiving calls] Receiving a call: unlock action is laggy and it can take a
while to successfully answer the call
* [Settings] If you check for updates manually, it says system is up to date
even if there's a update notification pending
* [Settings] If you select check now when setting an update you get many
notifications in the notification bar but turned out to be just one message
* [Settings] Lock screen pin not preserved on update (bug 812248)
* [Settings] No screen rotation lock (bug 816769)
* [Updates] Can't cancel updates (bug 804571)
* [Wifi] Doesn't always reconnect to secure wifi hotspots (doesn't happen with
Mozilla Guest -- may only happen with certain network configs) (bug 816698)
