I also don't have a right-click menu when I hover the mouse pointer over a file icon. The only menus I can get out of Nautilus is the window title right-click and right-clicking on the Devices/Computer/Network listing on the left hand side of the Nautiuls window. It makes doing anything with Nautilus very hard indeed.
