I have the same issue on 24.04 sometimes after the PC boot. When this occurs, I need to restart to get rid of this problem.

Each time I need to "sudo apt-get install --reinstall alsa-base alsa- utils pipewire" then reboot for the sound to come back. Sometimes, sound is lost at wake up. Upgrading to 24.10 didn't fix the problem. That's painful. Hope this helps.
