When the active folder is a directory on the Dock, the Files app indicator dot disappears. This could be due to how macOS handles application focus and UI elements. When you have a directory pinned to the Dock, the system might not recognize it as an active Files app instance, causing the indicator to vanish. A potential workaround is to ensure the folder is opened within the Files app rather than the Finder. If the issue persists, checking for macOS updates or restarting the system might help refresh the Dock and Files app behavior. For more troubleshooting tips, visit http://flycasts.net/.

This includes both the little dot that indicates the number of windows, as well as when Files is the active selected window. Disabling the setting to show removable drives in the dock does stop this from happening. Expected behaviour is that the indicator for open and/or active windows for an app like Files would remain consistent and not jump to a 'mountpoint' indicator on the dock which is essentially a shortcut, not an app. Output of inxi -Fxzc0 ---------- System: Kernel: 6.11.0-13-generic arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 14.2.0 Desktop: GNOME v: 47.0 Distro: Ubuntu 24.10 (Oracular Oriole) Machine: Type: Laptop System: ASUSTeK product: ASUS Zenbook 14 UX3405MA_Q425MA v: 1.0 serial: <filter> Mobo: ASUSTeK model: UX3405MA v: 1.0 serial: <filter> UEFI: American Megatrends LLC. v: UX3405MA.309 date: 10/08/2024 Battery: ID-1: BAT0 charge: 53.8 Wh (71.6%) condition: 75.1/75.1 Wh (100.0%) volts: 8.1 min: 8.0 model: ASUSTeK ASUS Battery status: discharging Device-1: hid-0018:04F3:4307.0001-battery model: ELAN9008:00 04F3:4307 charge: N/A status: N/A CPU: Info: 16-core (6-mt/10-st) model: Intel Core Ultra 7 155H bits: 64 type: MST AMCP arch: Meteor Lake rev: 4 cache: L1: 1.6 MiB L2: 18 MiB L3: 24 MiB Speed (MHz): avg: 889 high: 2001 min/max: 400/4500:4800:3800:2500 cores: 1: 400 2: 2000 3: 400 4: 400 5: 400 6: 400 7: 2001 8: 400 9: 1975 10: 400 11: 400 12: 400 13: 1603 14: 400 15: 400 16: 1254 17: 1807 18: 400 19: 1493 20: 1831 21: 400 22: 400 bogomips: 131788 Flags: avx avx2 ht lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 ssse3 vmx Graphics: Device-1: Intel Meteor Lake-P [Intel Arc Graphics] vendor: ASUSTeK driver: i915 v: kernel arch: Gen-13 bus-ID: 0000:00:02.0 Device-2: Shinetech USB2.0 FHD UVC WebCam driver: uvcvideo type: USB bus-ID: 3-9:2 Display: unspecified server: X.Org v: 24.1.2 with: Xwayland v: 24.1.2 driver: dri: iris gpu: i915 resolution: 1920x1200~60Hz API: EGL v: 1.5 drivers: iris, swrast platforms: active: gbm,x11,surfaceless,device inactive: wayland API: OpenGL v: 4.6 compat-v: 4.5 vendor: intel mesa v: 24.2.3-1ubuntu1 glx-v: 1.4 direct-render: yes renderer: Mesa Intel Arc Graphics (MTL) Audio: Device-1: Intel Meteor Lake-P HD Audio vendor: ASUSTeK driver: sof-audio-pci-intel-mtl bus-ID: 0000:00:1f.3 Device-2: Samsung USBC Headset driver: hid-generic,snd-usb-audio,usbhid type: USB bus-ID: 3-2:4 API: ALSA v: k6.11.0-13-generic status: kernel-api Server-1: PipeWire v: 1.2.4 status: n/a (root, process) Network: Device-1: Intel Meteor Lake PCH CNVi WiFi driver: iwlwifi v: kernel bus-ID: 0000:00:14.3 IF: wlo1 state: up mac: <filter> IF-ID-1: tailscale0 state: unknown speed: -1 duplex: full mac: N/A Bluetooth: Device-1: Intel AX211 Bluetooth driver: btusb v: 0.8 type: USB bus-ID: 3-10:3 Report: hciconfig ID: hci0 rfk-id: 2 state: up address: <filter> bt-v: 5.3 lmp-v: 12 RAID: Hardware-1: Intel Volume Management Device NVMe RAID Controller Intel driver: vmd v: 0.6 bus-ID: 0000:00:0e.0 Drives: Local Storage: total: 2.75 TiB used: 64.55 GiB (2.3%) ID-1: /dev/nvme0n1 vendor: Micron model: MTFDKBA1T0QFM-1BD1AABGB size: 953.87 GiB temp: 36.9 C ID-2: /dev/sda vendor: SanDisk model: Portable SSD size: 1.82 TiB type: USB Partition: ID-1: / size: 950.8 GiB used: 30.19 GiB (3.2%) fs: btrfs dev: /dev/dm-1 mapped: ubuntu--vg-ubuntu--lv ID-2: /boot size: 1.9 GiB used: 167.4 MiB (8.6%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/nvme0n1p2 ID-3: /boot/efi size: 1.05 GiB used: 6.1 MiB (0.6%) fs: vfat dev: /dev/nvme0n1p1 Swap: ID-1: swap-1 type: file size: 16 GiB used: 780 KiB (0.0%) file: /swap Sensors: System Temperatures: cpu: 46.0 C mobo: N/A Fan Speeds (rpm): N/A Info: Memory: total: 16 GiB note: est. available: 14.49 GiB used: 5.46 GiB (37.7%) Processes: 532 Uptime: 55m Init: systemd target: graphical (5) Packages: 1657 Compilers: N/A Shell: Sudo v: 1.9.15p5 inxi: 3.3.35 --------- Attached is a video to provide a more clear visual of the bug in case I'm not describing it well ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.10 Package: gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock 99ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.11.0-13.14-generic 6.11.0 Uname: Linux 6.11.0-13-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.30.0-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Mon Jan 20 22:50:11 2025 InstallationDate: Installed on 2025-01-19 (1 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 24.10 "Oracular Oriole" - Release amd64 (20241009.4) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) SHELL=/usr/bin/fish TERM=xterm-256color XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> SourcePackage: gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock/+bug/2095383/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
