It sounds like the correct modes are not being detected over an analog
VGA port. What output do you see from this command?

  grep . /sys/class/drm/*/modes

Title:
Wayland screen res for Intel 3000 SNB GT2 not detected

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When I switch to Wayland in Ubuntu 24.04 only the standard VGA
  resolutions are available (1024x768, 848x480, 800x600).

My hardware: Intel Corporation DH67CL, 32.0 GiB RAM, Intel® Core™
  i7-2600K × 8, Intel® HD Graphics 3000 (SNB GT2).

Software: Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS, Linux 6.8.0-50-generic

Under xorg display all is good but with Wayland not.

I have added the extra graphic resolution to the kernel, but on boot
it says the setting it invalid.

  Kernel parameters: quiet splash video=VGA-1:1440×900@60

syslog reports: gnome-shell[12096]: Failed to use stored monitor
configuration: Invalid mode 1440x900 (59.887) for monitor 'unknown
  unknown'
