Issue is still present in Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS, at least with upgrade from previous LTS (and this was not an issue before upgrade). Mentioned solution resolves the issue. In my opinion this bug is critical as for non tech users till someone finds this solution typing becomes a nightmare, imagine masked password entries with this bug in action...
