The same bug is now present on a completely different DELL model (from
2013), running Linux Mint 22 (cinnamon). This started happening after
the latest kernel update to 6.8-48 a couple of days ago. I believe Mint
is using the same kernels as in 24.04 LTS. If that's so, could it be
that ubuntu changed something in the way they compile kernels in the
last month, for both LTS and -current?

Title:
No password dialog after waking up from sleep

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Since upgrading from 24.04 to 24.10, when the laptop wakes up from
sleep, it doesn't ask me for a password to login. It just gets me to
the gnome desktop, as if it never went to sleep (but it did). This
only happens on gnome, not on cinnamon or xfce that i also have
  installed.

Laptop: Dell Inc. Latitude 5480 (this used to ship with ubuntu back in
the day, it was one of the supported dell/ubuntu laptops).
