Hello, the "X" in the screenshot, if I mouse over it, it says "this extension is not compatible with gnome 36 and has been disabled". So I don't think it's doing anything as it's not crashing, it's being disabled intentionally. Nonetheless, I removed the extension (so that dash to panel is my only non-stock extension) and repeated the test (closed and reopened laptop lid) and the problem (2 docks) reproduced.
(However note: I ALSO performed a test where I disabled Dash to Panel, and also disabled Ubuntu Dock, and I closed and reopened the lid, and Ubuntu Dock DID NOT come back. So it is possible Dash to Panel is CAUSING the dock to reappear, by itself, and this is not a bug on Ubuntu. If this is a bug on Dash to Panel I can go report in *their* bug tracker, but I would like to gather enough information to confidently tell Dash to Panel it's them.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2085739 Title: Dock appears even though it is disabled Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I use an extension named "dash-to-panel". It replaces the dock (the app icons listing on the left). So that dash-to-panel and the dock do not fight for dominance, I run with the dock extension disabled (see attachment 16-34-21). Today I did a minor upgrade. Now every time I log out and back in (or, sleep and rewake the computer), the ubuntu dock appears, in addition to the dash-to-panel dock. If I go into the extensions app, and turn *any extension* off and back on, the ubuntu dock disappears. Expected behavior: If the dock extension is disabled, the dock should not appear. Note: It is possible the problem and/or the unusual behavior where the dock "remembers" it is disabled when an extension is flipped on and off, is with the dock-suppression mechanism in dash-to-panel and not Ubuntu; there is a separate bug on dash-to-panel https://github.com/home-sweet-gnome/dash-to-panel/issues/2199 . However, I think this is a separate issue from anything in dash-to- panel (if I flip the switch in the extensions program to disable the dock, then the dock should be disabled).
