Title:
gnome-shell consumes 75% cpu while doing absolutely nothing

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Gnome shell makes my laptop literally useless. Even thou I'm not
touching keybaord or mouse, and no other activity is ongoing, gnome-
shell is still using 75% of the CPU.

And if I try to type something in VScode then it takes 5 seconds for
it to react. Am I the only one in the whole world that has this
problem (and have had it for very long time). What more info do you
need to solve this show-stopper bug?
