I found an older Ubuntu box (18.04) with older LO/Calc (6.4.7.2) and
Gnome rather than Wayland, and it works correctly: [Alt+F] opens the
File menu, and the New sub-menu then auto-opens, but the File menu’s
options remain available for keystroke selection.

I then installed LODev 6.4.0.0.alpha0+ for testing, and the issue is
present using this version on my system. Thus, it does not appear to be
only a LO issue.

It has been suggested that this may be related to Wayland, rather than LO.

Title:
  File|(all options) can no longer be accessed via keystrokes

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  $ lsb_release -rd
  No LSB modules are available.
  Description:  Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
  Release:      24.04

  $ apt-cache policy  libreoffice
  libreoffice:
    Installed: 4:24.2.6-0ubuntu0.24.04.1
    Candidate: 4:24.2.6-0ubuntu0.24.04.1

  I had to reinstall my OS last month, so this is a new installation,
  and I do not know how old my previous LibreOffice install was.

  I am no longer able to use keystrokes to access the Recent Documents
  list. Previously, [Alt+F],U would display the most recently accessed
  documents, but there is now only a 0.5 second window in which the ‘U’
  can be pressed, before the File|New sub-menu appears, disabling the
  ability to keystroke-select the Recent Documents option on the File
  menu.

  What I expected to happen:
  [Alt+F],U would display the most recently accessed documents list

  What happened instead:
  Unless the 'U' is pressed very quickly (but not TOO quickly), the File|New
sub-menu appears, disabling the ability to keystroke-select the Recent
Documents option on the File menu.
