Title:
External Monitor backlight does not turn off on blank

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When my screen blanks from inactivity timeout the backlight stays on,
for multiple hours and does not turn off ever.

  Additional Notes:

  * "Everything else" appears to be working fine. I can move my mouse, enter
password on lock screen, and resume doing whatever I was doing normally,
nothing else is "stuck"
  * This is a dual boot machine, on the Win11 side of things there are no
issues.
  * Monitor connected over display port.
  * This was also a problem in Ubuntu 22 which was installed before the 24
upgrade.
  * This has been consistently happening for a number of months.
  * FWIW The monitor in question is a Asus PG32UQR.

Happy to provide any other additional info required or further help
  debug.
