Reassigning as the upgrade looks good.

Consider checking what's up with your SATA controller it goes down  and
resumes at limited speed a lot:

  gdm3 fails after release upgrade, have to use lightdm

  I upgraded from 22.04 to 24.04

  The gdm3 desktop does not come up.

  I tried uninstalling gdm3 and reinstalling, which did not change the
  problem.

  I have installed lightdm as an alternative.
