Public bug reported: Observed:
My company password regularly expires, so I have to change it. The same password is used for the company WiFi. The next time I connect to the company WiFi, NetworkManager tries to connect and is just stuck for a rather long time (about a minute?). While it's trying to connect, settings for that WiFi connection are not accessible. Eventually it stops trying to connect and only then can I access the settings to change the password. Expected: I would expect NetworkManager to detect that the WiFi signal is strong, but the password is wrong and that it gives up trying within 5s, maybe 10s at most. (It would also be nice if settings for that connection were accessible while it's connecting so that I can already update it while I'm waiting for the connection attempt to stop.) Alternatively, an "abort" button might be nice to interrupt the connection attempt. Repeatability: This happens every time my password changes. Workarounds: I can switch WiFi off and on again, but then I still have to wait for NetworkManager to populate the list of WiFi networks. It's faster than waiting for the timeout, but it seems a bit clumsy.
