The first thing to try is to uninstall/delete this extension:

  'vertical-overv...@rensalthuis.github.com'

and then log in again. If in doubt then just delete all local
extensions:

  cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell
  rm -rf extensions

If the problem still occurs then next check for crashes by:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment
