your comment #4. Will close as 'Invalid' as Ubuntu 14.04 hasn't been
supported for some time.

  BETA 14.04 Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in __GI_raise()

Bug description:
  UbuntuStudio  14.04 amd64  BETA 1 (Alpha) Feb 24

  in the display settings, I see two identical entries for laptop.

  I didn't not initially have this error until after installing the
  latest updates and or using an external monitor.  after that I am
  seeing lot's or crashes in xorg.

  I do not have this problem on other versions (12.04 through13.10) of
  UbuntuStudio
