Sorry for the delay in seeing your bug report Peter.

I'm moving this to 'gnome-shell' and confirming as some sort of order is
required. There might already be an existing report in Ubuntu or
upstream which has requested this though. I'll see what I can find.

** Package changed: gedit (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Confirmed

** Summary changed:

- Show Applications sort order
+ Show applications in alphabetical order

Title:
  Show applications in alphabetical order

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:

  *** Please change package to the appropriate one
  ***

  In Ubuntu 22.04, the "Show Applications" icon at the bottom of the
  launcher gives the apps in undesired order.

  This needs to be sorted in ascending order.
