If you have been taking screenshots then high memory usage may be
explained by bug 1973638.
If the problem is not caused by taking screenshots then please provide
evidence of the high memory usage by running:
ps aux | grep gnome-shell > shellps.txt
and attach the resulting text file here.
Finally, please also ensure there are no locally installed extensions by
running:
cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell
rm -rf extensions
and then log in again.
