Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
    ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

Title:
Using 3 fingers touch screen gestures freezes the system

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete
Status in gnome-shell package in Fedora:
  Unknown

Bug description:
Bug severity: 8/10 major productivity hindrance!
Reproducibility: 100% on every distro running gnome 40 and 41.
  Ubuntu Version: 20.10.
  Package: gnome-shell 40.5-1ubuntu2 500

  Background:
Under Wayland, there are multi touch gestures implemented for the touchscreen
and for the touchpad.
3 fingers up for activities overview and again for applications swiping left
and right will switch desktops, in and out of the activities screen.

Using the touchpad everything is fine and the system works as
  expected.

as long as there are no programs running, using three fingers on the
screen will go into the overview and move between desktopsas expected.

  The Bug:
As soon as you enter overview with applications running and you swipe an app
with more than 1 finger the entire shell will freeze and you cannot move to the
other TTYs using the ctrl+alt+f#. Only the mouse still moves and there is an
app preview stuck (see attached image).
If you wait until the computer locks you can enter the lockscreen and the
other TTYs.

  Expected Behaviour:
System not hanging when swiping over an app window preview with more than 1
finger on the activities screen, The app should'nt be draggable with more than
1 finger.
Swiping over the activities screen with 3 fingers should move between
desktops overviews just like 3 fingers on a touchpad does and just like how it
does when not doing so over an app.

Edit: IMO, It might be a gnome bug, however as it is affecting the entire OS
Canonical should patch it with a little hack/gnome addon that prevents dragging
an app preview with more than 1 finger.
