Despite the grid layout including quite a lot of space, whenever apps have more than about 12-13 characters in their name they get truncated and even when you hover over the icons it still doesn't display the names of the apps. Therefore you are left not knowing what the app is unless you know the icon or launch the app to discover the full name. This is surprising common. A few examples: Firefox Web Br... LibreOffice Imp... LibreOffice Wri... Language Supp... Document Sca... Document Vie... Passwords and ... Visual Studio C... Software & Up... While we know or can guess what most of them are, there's loads of space so why can't we give two lines for app names so all reasonably named apps have their names displayed in full?
