However, the system does when the printer is turned on and is able to print from other applications (Evince and Firefox). This occurs every time the printer is off, and Writer is running. This does not occur with a netbook, WiFi connected to a router, ethernet connected to the same desktop, with the desktop running a cups server. WORKAROUND: Turn on the printer, restart Writer.
