Title:
Desktop froze while watching a video in the browser

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I watched an HTML5 video when the desktop environment froze and
prevented any further input. The screen froze although the sound was
still being played. I noticed the laptop's fan turning on for a
  minutes or so.

Only a reboot with the Magic SysRq Keys helped.
