Also on the same hardware and kernel the connection to all other wlan networks I tired to far worked flawless. Downgrading the network manager to version 1.16 did not solve the issue. Further, using a wlan USB-Stick for connection did not help. Therefore, this issue seems to be specific to the combination ubuntu 19.10 and LinkHub HUB40 router.
