Title:
Activities search menu won't show any icon

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
since I upgraded from ubuntu 19.04 to ubuntu 19.10, the search function will
not show any software, file, etc. icon anymore. If I write in the search box
the exact name of the software, say for example "writer", and I hit the enter
key the program will start fine. So, the search itself is working, I just do
not see any icon. If I use Super + A, I can see all the icons there, but if I
start typing something in the search box, icons disappear.
All my Gnome Shell extensions work fine and don't show any sign of
incompatibility or error: Text translator, Drop down terminal, Dynamic panel
transparency, Gsconnect, Impatience, and Openweather.
I have already trued to reinstall gnome-session with no result.
  I am running gnome-shell 3.34.1+git20191024-1ubuntu1~19.10.1 in ubuntu 19.10
