Hey Gunnar, Thanks so much for picking this up! I attempted the mentioned pre- verification on a relatively fresh 19.04/Disco installation (specifically: one without any manual changes to the system-installed sane packages and repositories).
However I got an error that seems to be related to the ppa itself, not the patch per se. Any directions from here?
