Public bug reported: There were many programs open as the crash occurs. There were lots of terminal windows, thunderbird, firefox, pidgin, gedit, thunar, nemo, synergy, transmission, solar, nextcloud and GNOME system monitor and maybe more open. Then I was opening a popup window and the shell froze except the mouse cursor which was responsive as always.
After a while the system presents me a fresh gnome login screen. Very annoying... I saw many segfaults from "Chrome_~dThread ... error 6 in libxul.so" in dmesg afterwards although I did not start any chrome or chromium process.
